Primrose Cottage is a charming holiday cottage situated on a quiet country lane in the rural village of Blaxhall, Suffolk.

It has recently been redecorated and refurbished with lovely quality furniture and fittings; it is well maintained and well equipped. 

The cottage, which can accommodate up to four people, has two bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, bathroom and a cosy sitting room with an open fire.  There is an attractive, enclosed garden.

The Suffolk coast is just a few miles away, with access to salt marshes, creeks and the sea.  The cottage is very close to the village of Snape and it’s Maltings which has a delicatessen, pub and restaurants, gallery, home & garden, craft, children’s toy and antiques shops not forgetting the world renowned Concert Hall. 

The towns of Aldeburgh, Southwold and Woodbridge offer the highest quality restaurants and pubs, shopping and super walks.

The Ground Floor comprises the Sitting Room, which is tastefully furnished with a double sofa bed, arm chair and coffee table and has an open fire and electric heater.  There is also an LCD flat screen TV, DVD player, mini Hi-Fi and a selection of books & games.  This beamed room is full of character and remains cosy in the winter and bright and airy in the summer.

The brick floored kitchen has a table and chairs to seat 4, electric cooker, fridge (with ice box), washing machine and microwave.

The bathroom has a bath, over bath electric shower, washbasin, W.C. and electric wall heater.

The 1st Floor consists of the main bedroom, which has a double bed, chest
of drawers, wardrobe, bedside tables, lamps and a radio alarm.

The second bedroom is ideal for children and has standard bunk beds, a wardrobe and shelves.

Stable doors lead out from the kitchen onto the patio and enclosed garden which has a table and chairs for outside dining and further up on the sheltered lawn is a shaded sitting area perfect for summer barbeques and a sun downer.

Primrose Cottage is available for weekends and
short breaks as well as longer stays.
Weekly rates are from 3.00pm on Friday to 10.30am
the following Friday (unless otherwise stated).
Weekly rates: £283 - £489. (depending on the time of year).
Weekend / short break £213 - £312. (depending on the time of year and length of stay).
We charge a £10 supplement for a small well behaved dog.

Aldeburgh - this Georgian coastal town is always buzzing and is perhaps the most fashionable place in Suffolk.  The primarily upmarket and eclectic mix of shops include: Crew Clothing, delicatessens Fat Face, Jack Wills, Moshulu, restaurants, food & wine shops. Antiques - can be found in the nearby village of Yoxford and at the sale rooms in Campsea Ash; viewing is on Saturday and the sale takes place on the following Monday morning. Art galleries at Snape Maltings, Southwold and Aldeburgh offer a wonderful selection of local scenes for all tastes and budgets.  For those up and coming artists Constable Country is only a few miles drive and the coast itself offers a myriad of vistas. Banks - HSBC, National Westminster and Barclays Banks can be found in Woodbridge and Aldeburgh.  The BP garage at Stratford St Andrew has a cash machine. Beer & wine - both may be found at the Adnams Brewery in Southwold (www.adnams.co.uk) 01502 727 200. Beaches - wonderful at Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold. Bikes - you will find quiet lanes tailor made for cycling.  Bikes can be hired from a number of places along the coast. Bread - baked freshly for the Friday Street Farm Shop, Farnham (01728 602 783). Boating on the mere at Thorpeness and tea rooms are available too. Butcher - one of the best local butchers is Revetts in Wickham Market (01728 746 263), their sausages are particularly good. Castles may be found at Framlingham and Orford. Church at Blaxhall is the enchanting 14th century church of St Peter's.  A warm and friendly welcome if offered by the parish vicar Barrie Slatter. There's a large indoor play barn where Mums and Dads can put their feet up with a cup of coffee while kids safely play. Fish & Chips - probably the best in Suffolk judging by the queues at either of the shops in the High Street, Aldeburgh. High Lodge at Darsham offers golf, clay pigeon shooting and fishing activities, 01986 784 347. Health Fitness & Beauty treatments may be booked at the beauty salon in The Ufford Park Hotel (www.bw-uffordparkhotel.co.uk).  You can also enjoy their pool, spa and gym. Post Office - the nearest can be found 3 miles away at Rendlesham Cost Cutter, Rendlesham, Woodbridge. RSPB Minsmere (www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/m/minsmere) is a superb place to enjoy a day out, whether you are a birdwatcher or simply want a country walk with the family. Sailing at Aldeburgh Yacht Club (01728 452 562.  The Club owns a fleet of six Toppers, six Optimists and a Wayfarer which are used for sail training for juniors. Week long courses are run for both beginner and intermediate children at the start of the summer holidays in late July. The Club’s junior instructors are available throughout August to lead and advise the children as they progress from the training courses to joining in the racing. There is also an active programme of learning to race in Optimist dinghies on Sunday mornings from May to September which is led by the Optimist Admiral and other volunteer parents. Snape Maltings (www.snapemaltings.co.uk) is a unique collection of granaries and malthouses nestling beside the River Alde. Shops, galleries, restaurants and the world class concert hall (which is open at weekends from April to end October and throughout half terms.  It is open daily from June to August.) fill the old buildings. There are a number of events taking place at the Maltings including river trips, farmers markets, exhibitions and guided river walks.  Snape Maltings is open daily from 10am. Southwold & Pier (www.southwoldpier.co.uk) open every day from 10.00am for food (great Fish and Chips), shopping and fun.  The town offers a wealth of pubs and restaurants and a wide variety of shops including Gun Hill clothing, Adnams Brewery and the Southwold Gallery. Sutton Hoo - (www.suttonhoo.org) one of Britain's most important and atmospheric archaeological sites, burial ground of the Anglo-Saxon kings of East Anglia, priceless royal treasures discovered in a huge ship grave, exhibition hall tells the compelling story of early English history, Suffolk sandlings, heathland and woodland walks. Theatre - Southwold and Aldeburgh Theatres (www.southwoldtheatre.org) and The Riverside, Woodbridge (www.theriverside.co.uk) 01394 382 174. Vegetables may be bought in season by the road from Blaxhall leading towards the A12.  Otherwise Friday Street Farm Shop, Farnham (01728 602 783) offers a wealth of fresh fruit, vegetables, prepared frozen foods, dairy products, preserves etc.. Walking - there are so many walks in and around Blaxhall (especially on The Heath) it is worth buying a walking map from the local shops. Wood & Charcoal - for sale at the BP Garage, Stratford St Andrews or Friday Street Farm Shop. The local pub, The Ship Inn, is in walking distance from Primrose Cottage and offers local beers and home cooked food
